AUSTRALIA PART 2 / HAUL
The city is incredible, reminded me a bit of London where it's constantly busy and so big! Apart from it was a lot bigger and more spaced out, and prettier than London! A couple of the days during my trip I ventured into the city, I feel like you need a couple days there to experience it all and go shopping, although I still feel like I didn't see everything that I wanted to see!
As you step off of the train into the city, you obviously have all of the main roads and giant buildings. There are also all these little lanes and roads in between buildings, which are just covered top to bottom in graffiti!
Melbourne was just like one massive piece of art! Everywhere you went, every corner you turned, there was art all over the walls and buildings! It was amazing to walk around!
Now i'm very artistic myself and anything art related I absolutely love! I've known about graffiti and spray paint for a while as I used it in my art GCSEs, so seeing all of this street art amazed me, it was beautiful! If you do find yourself in Melbourne, one street you have to visit is ACDC lane, then all the little lanes around that area! It's incredible to see!
Not all in the little lanes, as even just walking around Melbourne there was art! Everything was just so beautiful and instagrammable, I was in my element! Whilst I was in the city I also went to see the crown casino on Southbank! I was so annoyed at myself though as it was my last full day there and I forgot my ID so I couldn't go inside and have a gamble! What idiot doesn't bring their ID to a casino, I was so upset at myself hahah! Another reason to go back I suppose!
Even little quotes and sayings where dotted about on the floor and all up the walls, i can't even put into words how cute it was!
A couple nights whilst I was there we went out, it was so cool to see how different the bars and clubs where! One of the places we went to was called Bimbos on Brunswick street, it was like a restaurant/bar turn club at night! I loved the chilled atmosphere and how friendly everyone was, would definitely recommend if you're ever in Melbourne!
Another place we visited was called Naked for Satan, I only really wanted to go for the funny name if i'm completely honest haha! I loved it though, its like a rooftop bar and restaurant, you walk in and the wallpaper is just naked people. I know so weird, but it was so quirky and fun!
We went and sat on the roof terrace and the views where amazing! You could see most of Melbourne city, I couldn't get a decent picture though as it was dark which was a shame.
Although it isn't cheap, it was actually quite expensive so we only had one drink and then went to Bimbos haha.
Although it isn't cheap, it was actually quite expensive so we only had one drink and then went to Bimbos haha.
I would recommend anyone to go purely just to experience it, it was so fun!
One night before going out I done my gorgeous friend Melissa's makeup. I love painting other peoples faces, makes a nice change from mine, and a strong smokey eye is my favourite! A lot of the products I used belonged to Melissa so I can't remember what the brands are called as they were Australian!
However I'll tag what I used on the eyes down below.
I absolutely fell in love with Melbourne city, I'm so excited to go back and see everything that I didn't see the first time around! (And actually get a chance to gamble in the casino lol)
Another thing that I got up to whilst in the city was shopping. Now I am a self confessed shopaholic, it's like a passion of mine lol. Never have I ever experienced shopping like I did whilst I was in Aus. First of all you don't get the exact same high street shops that you get in England, like New Look and Primark.
They're all totally different brands that you don't get back in England (Like Sephora which I was most excited about).
Now obviously the first shop that I had to visit was Sephora. I'm not going to share how much I spent in there because it absolutely broke the bank, but you don't get it in England so I had to take advantage right?
I also brought some other little bits like Sephora's own face masks, night creams, powder and blush. I'm so glad I got my hands on the Huda beauty rose gold palette as that's being discontinued, it has hands down become my favourite eye shadow palette, I will be doing lots of makeup looks with this for the blog in the future!
I also visited a couple other beauty shops, Mecca Maxima and Bath and Body Works. Again you cant get these brands in the UK, so I had to go have a look and take advantage! A couple things I got which I fell in love with were the Frank Body coffee body scrub, coffee lip scrub and coffee lip balm. Now I am a big coffee drinker, it's my favourite drink. The smell is just to die for, waking up to the smell of fresh coffee is just lush! So when I saw these coffee flavoured products I couldn't resist!
Let me tell you that these are the best scrubs I have every tried! They leave your skin and lips feeling so soft, and smelling of fresh coffee!! The lip balm is so moisturising and using it underneath any matte lipstick literally saves my life, my lips do not dry out!
I also brought some items of clothing, because you have to whilst you're there shopping right? I got a couple cute tops from these little shops which I can't remember the name of, I also visited a shop called culture kings and got this cool steezy jumper, I just loved the style of it and I also love like effortless comfy, but fashionable streetwear, so it was perfect!
I also visited Kookai which sold the most amazing classy clothes and shoes! I got a pair of shoes and a pink clutch, because you can never have too many! It was quite pricey but the items where beautiful and I could have spent an absolute fortune, definitely making sure I have more spending money next time I visit Kookai!
These wedges where my absolute favourite buy whilst out in Aus, they're beautiful, and actually so comfy! Where they're a big platform and wedged, they are easy to walk in and don't hurt your feet at all which I love! They had them in a tan colour too which were gorgeous, (i wanted both lol) but I figured the black would go with any outfit! I'm holding off for a special occasion as I don't want to risk wrecking these in some club, they where pretty expensive so they'll be saved for special occasions!
That pretty much sums up my trip down under, I had the best time! I'm already planning my second trip back during January or Feb (when it'll be summer over there) but i'm planning on visiting different parts of Australia too! One of my dreams is to travel the world, I was extremely lucky to have had such an amazing opportunity to go over to the other side of the world and explore! I have made some amazing friends from this experience who i'm sure ill go and visit!
So sad to be back to reality, cold and rainy England, back to work!
Australia has always been high up on my bucket list of places to visit and it did not disappoint! Although word of warning if you're planning a trip, you will fall in love and want to move there, just saying!! I'm planning on spending a lot more time over there next time too as it's such a big place, you need plenty of time to see everything and take full advantage!
Hope this has helped anyone who is planning on visiting Melbourne, and I hope you've enjoyed reading about what I got up to in Aus!
Love Xen xo
