AUSTRALIA PART 1

So guys, the reason I haven't posted in over a month is what i'm going to write about today! Last month I flew out and stayed with my friend for 3 weeks in Australia! I literally had the best time, and thought it would be a good subject to blog about! (not entirely fashion/makeup related but why not throw a bit of travel in there too?) Also if you're thinking of visiting Melbourne i'll write about the places I went and where i'd recommend you to go and visit!

Australia has always been high up on my bucket list of places to travel to. It was kind of planned very last minute, I booked my flights about a week or 2 before I left, but spontaneous trips are the ones that end up being the best right?
It was quite daunting and scary as I travelled on my own, which to me is a big deal. I'd never travelled to another country on my own, always with family! So to go all the way to the other side of the world on my own was so scary, but I also realised how easy it is and it's definitely a confidence boost (I've always struggled with self confidence)
My amazing friend Mel and her family let me stay at hers which was awesome because it meant I saved money on accommodation (love you mel) So I travelled to Melbourne which is where she lives.
Can I just say Melbourne is absolutely beautiful! The people are also so welcoming and friendly (Also Melbourne was just voted the most liveable city in the world for the second year running)
The first place I visited whilst I was there was the Dandenong National Park. Driving up there was so cool because it literally looked like we were driving through rainforest. Once you get there, there are hundreds of wild cockatoos that you can feed and they land on you (As you can see from the picture above, although once we ran out of seeds they turned a bit savage and starting biting us hahah)
It was so pretty here and if you get the chance to experience it then i'd recommend you to go have a look!
Now, being a typical brit, I was so excited to see all of the Aussie wildlife and animals! It's just so different to what we're used to, England literally has no interesting wildlife, might see a cow on the side of the road or something but that's it lol.
The next place I visited was Healsville Sanctuary, which is home to lots of different Aussie animals! My favourite part was the picture above when I met the kangaroos, I called this one Kanga he was so cute! Healsville was probably one of my favourite parts of my trip, it's such a fun day out!
We also saw Koalas (which I also was very excited about, although disappointed I couldn't hold one hahah) There was also wombats, dingo's, emus, Tasmanian devils, echidnas, snakes, crocs and loads more! There was also a professional bird show that was put on showing all of the beautiful Australian birds which was so cool to see!
I loved this day just because it was so different from what we see at home (obviously) i'd never seen any of these animals up close and personal! I am also a huge animal lover so I was just in my element!

This is how happy I was to see a koala hahaha.

Everything about this place was amazing, it was beautiful, or how I like to describe it, everything was so instagrammable! You know when you look back at pictures and just think was that real? I was in this amazing scenery and now I'm looking out my window at a bloody road, brilliant.
Anyway, if you're ever in Melbourne, Healsville is a MUST. If you get a chance go spend a day there, it's amazing to see all the wildlife and different animals there!
Another place I visited was Sorrento beach! I'm not even kidding, this was the most beautiful beach I have ever seen! Bearing in mind that July/August is Winter in Aus, the weather was beautiful and the water was literally so clear I could see right to the bottom!
So there where all these rocks we decided to climb over and explore! We found the cutest little secluded beaches and rock pools. Also, the beach was DEAD. Not a single person except for us. However, if you do decide to visit this beach, there are two parts.
As you drive up to it you see the front of it straight away, which is just a plain beach! This part that we visited was the back part, so be sure to visit the back beach when you're there as I think it is a lot more scenic and there's all the rocks you can climb over and explore!
However because it is winter I still had to wrap up, as it was super cold! Even though it doesn't look it, the sun was shining and there was not one cloud in the sky! Australian winter is so much better than the British summer!
See what I mean though?? So instagrammable! I'd love to come visit during the Summer!
The sand was so white and the water was so blue and clear, literally breath taking scenes. If you're in Melbourne, put Sorrento beach onto the list of places you need to visit! Although it did take 2 hours to drive there, that's another thing Australia is so huge everything is so spaced out! You can't just nip round the corner and grab a pint of milk, you had to drive for 20 minutes to the nearest corner shop! It took about an hour to get into the city centre, too.
I suppose that's the price you pay for living in such a beautiful country!
I'm going to mention one more place I visited as this post is already super long, but I will be doing a part 2 as I have so much to write about! This place was Steavenson falls. Funny story, one day nearing the end of my trip we couldn't think of anything to do so we googled waterfalls in Melbourne and this came up, and it did not disappoint! The picture above was the top of the waterfall, we started at the bottom and hiked up to the top and the views where breath taking!
Little tip, make sure you know what you're getting yourself in for, as I did not wear the right attire for a hike! I was in a bloody jumper and jeans and converses haha.
I still gave it a go, it was literally like walking through a rainforest! It was so beautiful. Another must go see if you're visiting Melbourne.
This was the bottom of the waterfall, it was amazing! Looks quite small but it went up about 120m.
The view from the very top was insane! Just forest for miles and miles, it literally didn't look real it looked like a post card! I feel so grateful to have been able to go and see all these amazing places! Never in a million years did I think i'd get an opportunity to go to Australia and explore!
I'm going to leave it there but later in the week I will be doing a part 2, where ill write about more places I visited, and it will include a mini haul of all the things I bought whilst over there! (the shopping is insane and my bank is broken right now haha)

Hope you enjoyed part 1 of my trip down under and ill keep you updated when part 2 is coming!!
Love Xen xo
